The Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council says after the waiting list scandal - homehelp is the next biggest crisis of our health system.
Fianna Fail Councillor Mary Bohan says that the HSE's vision to support people in community and remain living at home is quite the opposite of what is happening on the ground.
She says in many cases homehelps have only 15 or 20 minutes to see and help an elderly person in their home.
She says that alot of the homehelps are staying over their allocated time because the work simply can't be done in the short space of time.
