A number of homes were evacuated in a Sligo housing estate last night over a suspected gas leak.
The alarm was raised after a fire broke out at one of the properties.
Emergency services including Gardai and multiple fire units attended the scene in the Caltragh area of Sligo shortly before 8pm last night.
While the fire was contained to one property, there were also reports of a suspected gas leak.
A major operation ensued and a number of residents had to leave their homes as a safety precaution.
Fire fighters spent several hours battling the blaze and ensuring the area was made safe.
Residents were eventually allowed back into their homes in the early hours of this morning.
There are no reports of any injuries and the extent of damage is currently not known.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
