There are hopes that a refurbished oncology day room at Sligo University Hospital will be open for Christmas.
The room is being refitted with new furniture and kitchenette facilities.
Sligo/Leitrim Fianna Fail TD Eamon Scanlon says the availability of the room means a lot to families of oncology patients in the hospital:
