Hopes traffic diversions in Sligo town will end next week . . . but works will continue

There are hopes that the traffic diversions at Hughes Bridge and at the Rosses Point/Bundoran Road/Duck Street junction in Sligo town will end by next week.

However, the overall traffic improvement works are still due to continue until 2021, with minimal disruption to traffic flow expected.

In September, it was said a further 3 weeks would be needed. Now, nearly 6 weeks later, the latest update from Sligo County Council suggests the diversions will be eased soon.

Speaking to OceanFM News, local Councillor Arthur Gibbons said workers missed out on some of the driest months of the year due to Covid-19 restrictions and this delayed progress.
