Hospitality sector breathes sigh of relief over retention of 9% VAT rate

The hospitality industry in the North West is breathing a sigh of relief following news that the 9% VAT is to be retained.

 

As part of cost of living measures announced by Government, a final extension of the 9% reduced VAT rate for the sector is to remain in place for a further six months.

The reduced rate will return to the standard 13.5% from September.

 

Donegal Chair of the Irish Hotels Federation Paul Diver says the extension will be hugely beneficial over the tourism season and says they will be able to prepare for the rate reverting back in the autumn:
