The Housing Minister says it's probable mica grant schemes will be extended to other counties outside Donegal and Mayo.
This comes after an expert panel warned the problem may be more widespread than first thought.
There have also been increasing reports of pyrite problems in houses in a number of counties, including Sligo.
Minister Darragh O'Brien says he hopes the legislation for the grants is passed by summer:
