HSE issue warning over attending A&E this Bank Holiday Weekend

The HSE has warned people to avoid A&E departments if at all possible this bank holiday weekend.

Anyone who attends an ED in non-emergency circumstances could face a lengthy wait to be seen.

Health Officials are urging the public to consider all care options this October Bank Holiday Weekend.

People are being asked to consider all alternative options before presenting in A&E Departments. These include pharmacists, GPs and out of hours services.

Those who attend EDs over this bank holiday weekend or routine and non-urgent treatment are likely experience very long waiting times.

Out of Hours GP services, NoWDOC and Caredoc, will be open from 6pm Friday October 27th until 8am Tuesday October 31st.

Caredoc, which covers Sligo, North Leitrim and West Cavan can be contacted on 0818 365 399 and NoWDOC which covers Donegal and South Leitrim on 0818 400 911.

As always, people who do require emergency care are encouraged to attend EDs where they will be prioritised.
