HSE issue warnings ahead of Covid outbreak in North West

The HSE have issued a statement today advising people to be careful amid a rise in Covid-19 cases in the North West.

A new variant of the virus, JN.1, is currently circulating in Ireland, and has led to outbreaks in hospitals, nursing homes and other dedicated care centres.

A number of wards in Sligo University Hospital fell foul of an outbreak earlier this week, and visitor restrictions were put in place as a result.

The HSE have reminded anyone with symptoms to stay at home until 48 hours after your symptoms are mostly or fully gone, and to avoid contact with other people, especially people at higher risk from Covid-19.
