McDonald & Son Dial A Bus Sligo (McDonald & Son Dial A Bus Sligo) will NOT be operating any of their bus services including school buses tomorrow morning. The Ursuline College, Sligo trip to Delphi Adventure Centre in Mayo is cancelled tomorrow but the school open as normal tomorrow morning.

Schools in the 8 counties affected by the status red warning due to Hurricane Ophelia will be closed tomorrow.

The Department of Education has informed schools in the relevant counties of the closures to ensure children's safety.

Following a special meeting of the Government Task Force on Emergency Planning it's also advising that schools in areas affected by a status orange alert (Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo and Tipperary) should remain vigilant.

But Fianna Fáil spokesperson Thomas Byrne is calling for clearer advice for schools in status orange areas:

The ESB is warning customers to be prepared for power outages.

They're also urging landowners and motorists to stay away from cables that may have fallen because of the high winds.
