IFA says two minute border delay would cause chaos post-Brexit

The Irish Farmers Association in Donegal has postponed a planned Brexit protest in Lifford this week as it would cause 'too much disruption' to traffic.

The idea of a two-minute 'slow-down' came about following their recent trip to meeting customs and agriculture officials on the Swedish-Norwegian border.

Sweden has been part of the EU since 1995 while Norway remains outside it with border checks a daily reality.

Chairperson of the Donegal IFA Michael Chance says that the average hold-up time there is two minutes.

But he says the reality of such a hold-up is significant when they considered stopping traffic for that long on the Lifford Strabane crossing:
