Counties Sligo, Leitrim, and Donegal each saw an increase in the number of new cars purchased in the first four months of 2024 compared to the same period last year.
The Society of the Irish Motor Industry has today released their official 241 new vehicle registrations statistics.
A total of 1,719 cars were purchased in county Donegal in the months of January to April, 118 of which were electric.
Leitrim also saw an increase totalling 319 new cars purchased in the first four months of 2024, 25 of which were electric.
Similar to its fellow north west counties, Sligo saw an increase with 762 total new cars purchased in the first four months compared to 695 in 2023.
In total, new car registrations for the first four months of the year nationally were up 6% to 71,110 when compared to April 2023.
9,028 new electric vehicles were registered nationally for the first four months of 2024.
