Counties Sligo, Leitrim, and Donegal each saw an increase in the number of new cars purchased throughout 2023 compared to the previous year’s figures.
The Society of the Irish Motor Industry has today released their official 232 new vehicle registrations statistics.
A total of 1,297 cars were purchased in county Sligo in the months of January to December, 181 of which were electric.
Leitrim also saw an increase totalling 500 new cars purchased in 2023, 58 of which were electric.
Similar to its fellow north west counties, Donegal saw an increase with 2,878 total new cars purchased compared to 2,775 in 2022.
Donegal also saw 305 more electric cars purchased in the first twelve months of 2023.
In total, new car registrations for nationally were up 16% to 121,850 during 2023.
