Gardaí carried out a total of 486 tests on motorists for drink or drugs across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal in 2020.
The annual report from the Medical Bureau of Road Safety shows there was a slight decrease in both Sligo and Leitrim compared to 2019's figures however, there was a noticeable jump in Co. Donegal.
A total of 337 blood or urine samples were taken in Donegal for 2020 compared to 262 in 2019, a 20% increase.
The report found 5,967 specimens were received nationally for alcohol and/or drug testing in 2020 which is an increase of 23% on the previous year.
