Counties Leitrim and Donegal both saw an increase in road deaths in 2023 compared to 2022 in figures published by the Road Safety Authority.
Sligo, meanwhile recorded a decrease.
3 road deaths occurred in Leitrim in 2023 compared to 2 the previous year.
Donegal saw an increase of 2 to 10 road deaths in comparison to 8 in 2022.
There were two less road deaths in Sligo in 2023, bringing the total to 4.
Figures published by the RSA show that there was a 19% increase in road deaths nationally.
The provisional figures from the RSA found 184 people died in 173 road crashes in 2023 compared to 155 deaths in 149 crashes the previous year.
The figures show that 44 pedestrians were killed on Irish roads last year.
Drivers accounted for the highest proportion of deaths at 37.5%, with 69 killed last year.
The number of passenger fatalities increased to 34, eight cyclists and 3 e-scooter users.
