Independent Councillor brands Gibbons' claims "disrepectful"

The use of the term “soft independents” by Sinn Fein Sligo Cllr Arthur Gibbons has been branded disrespectful.

Cllr Gibbons included the phrase in several of his motions at todays sitting of Sligo County Council, resulting in his motions being voted down by his fellow Cllrs.

When a similar incident happened at a previous council meeting before Christmas, Cllr Gibbons agreed to change the wording of his motions back then so that they could be passed.

However today, he stood over his decision and refused to exclude the phrase.
