INHFA calls on Oireachtas to ban non-working dogs

INHFA calls on Oireachtas to ban non-working dogs

The Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association is calling on members of the Oireachtas to legislate and ensure that all non-working dogs are banned from Irish hills and farmlands.

The association is making the call following the attack on Wicklow farmer Pat Dunne.

INHFA Vice President Pheilim Molloy believes legislation in the area should involve considerable fines for those caught with non-working dogs on farmland and should also be considered as a criminal offence.

Vice President Molloy says a full recognition is needed of the dangers posed to animals:
