Sligo University Hospital was the joint third most overcrowded hospital in Ireland in the month of May.
The number waiting for a bed in Sligo this May was the highest recorded over the last 16 years.
The latest figures from the INMO have revealed that there were a total of 761 people waiting for a bed at Sligo University Hospital during the month of May.
The figure reflects a significant jump on last year's number of 285 - a 38% increase.
The situation was different in Letterkenny University Hospital.
In Letterkenny, there were 74 people waiting for a bed during the month of May.
This represents a fall compared with May of last year when there were 128 people waiting - a 42% decrease.
