INMO warns that Hospital overcrowding crisis is out of control

INMO warns that Hospital overcrowding crisis is out of control

The INMO are warning that the number of patients being treated on trolleys has gone ‘out of control’.

 

The warning was issued as 681 people across the county are currently waiting on Hospital Beds.

Two Hospitals from the Saolta Hospital Group occupy joint third position when comes to the most severely overcrowded facilities in the Country.

 

Sligo University Hospital and University Hospital Galway have both 54 people waiting on hospital beds this morning.

Only University Hospital Limerick and Cork University Hospitals have higher numbers when it comes to patients waiting on trollies.

 

A further 28 people are waiting on beds at Letterkenny University Hospital.

 

 

The INMO NMO General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha has stated that healthcare professionals are delivering patient care under increasingly undignified and unacceptable conditions.

 

 

She warned that Nurses and other healthcare staff cannot be expected to endure such challenges without adequate protection and meaningful support.
