Ireland West Airport is to close for a month from today until Sunday the 13th of December.
The decision was made as a result of Ryanair suspending all flights from regional airports for the same dates.
A support package worth €80m was recently announced for the sector in an attempt to alleviate some of the losses suffered.
Representatives of Knock airport say they expect losses of close to €4m this year with passenger numbers down from 807,000 passengers in 2019 to an estimated 145,000 passengers in 2020.
