Irish Rail is adding an extra service from Sligo to Dublin this year

Irish Rail is to add an extra service between Sligo and Dublin this year due to increased demand.

There was a 6% increase in passenger numbers on the route according to figures released by Irish Rail today.

While the timings of the service have not yet been decided, an additional service is expected to be in place by the middle of this year.

Jane Cregan, spokesperson for Irish Rail says that it should help to alleviate some overcrowding that's a problem on some services at present:
