Issuing free Covid tests during pandemic right call, says Donegal GP

A Donegal GP says the decision to issue free Covid-19 tests during the course of the pandemic was the correct decision.

Donegal GP Ciarán Ó Fearraigh was reacting to the fact that it has cost the HSE over 1 billion euro to provide free PCR tests for Covid to the public.

Over 11.3 million tests have been carried out to date within the public system.

The total cost includes referral and swabbing fees, reading the results, and transport charges.

The Donegal GP says the tests played a vital role in Ireland's attempts in trying to get to grips with the pandemic.
