IT Sligo president tells council that fall in region's population is cause of concern

The president of IT Sligo says the loss of population in counties Sligo, Donegal and Mayo is a serious concern.

The latest census showed that the population is falling in Sligo, Donegal and Mayo which is the main catchment area for IT Sligo.

Dr Brendan McCormack says it's a double whammy for this region because when students leave this area they do not come back to work.

Dr McCormack was speaking at a meeting of Sligo County Council today.
