Independent candidate in the Manorhamilton Municipal District, James Gilmartin, has been elected to Leitrim County Council after the first count.
Mr Gilmartin is the first candidate from his electoral area to be confirmed as a new councillor.

He joins Fianna Fail candidate Paddy O'Rourke and Fine Gael candidate Enda McGloin from the Ballinamore local electoral area on the council, who were also confirmed on the first count.
