A 65 year old man has been airlifted to hospital after a kayaking incident off Aughris Pier in west Sligo this evening.
The Malin Head Coastguard has confirmed that they received the first call just after 8pm.
The Rescue helicopter, Coastguard, RNLI and ambulance service were on the scene promptly and the kayaker was removed from the water.
Initially a group of ten kayakers went out from Aughris Pier and some returned to shore while the final five were escorted safely back to shore.

The coastguard was not in a position to confirm the condition of the man as of 9:30pm tonight, however, Ocean FM News understands he is in a serious condition.
