Kenny calls for more Gardai to help reduce overtime costs

A Sinn Fein Sligo/Leitrim TD, who's just been appointed his party's spokesman on Justice, says there's a need for more Gardai to reduce the Garda overtime bill.

The Gardaí's overtime bill has reduced by 18 percent this year.

However 48.2 million euro was still been spent in the six-month-period -- 10.7 million less than at the same point in 2018.

According to details released under the Freedom of Information Act, one officer has been paid 28-thousand in overtime this year.
