Kevin Sharkey pulls out of presidential race

Presidential hopeful Kevin Sharkey has pulled out of the race for the Aras.

Mr. Sharkey an artist raised in Killybegs in county Donegal confirmed he's pulling out of the race claiming on his facebook page that it's a 'farce'.

He says he's withdrawing from the presidential race due to what he claims is 'the Corruption of the local councils all over Ireland'.

He has thanked any Councillors that did pledge their support to him and asked that they transfer that vote to journalist Gemma O'Doherty who is hoping to secure a nomination to run.

He told Sligo County Council last week that the drugs issue targeting vulnerable young people had to be addressed.

He also reiterated his calls for serious sanctions for anyone who attacks an elderly person in their home stating that older people right around the country are living in fear:

I am withdrawing from the presidential race due to the Corruption of the local councils all over Ireland.

I would like to thank the several councils and councilor’s who have promised me their votes and ask them to transfer them to Gemma O Doherty, as she is a woman of huge integrity and is currently bravely shining a light on the rampant corruption that is destroying our beautiful country, and democracy, and she needs to be heard and listened to.
