Kevin Sharkey has also confirmed that he will contest the General Election in Donegal.
Mr Sharkey, from Killybegs, has thrown his hat into the ring and will run as an Independent candidate.
He has had a brief career in television, but is now a full-time artist.
He also sought a nomination for the 2018 Presidential election, but withdrew from the campaign in September of that year.
