Labour Party calls for National Register of defibrillators

The Labour Party is calling for a National Register of defibrillators to be established.

They claim the state should consider a repair and upkeep scheme for defibrillators and to ensure that all schools have them installed.

Attention has been drawn to the lifesaving equipment after the Danish player Christian Eriksen's suffered a cardiac arrest during the European soccer championships.

Nessa Cosgrave who represented the Labour Party in the last general election says there an estimated  8,000 - 10,000 public access defibrillators in Ireland.
