Remnants of buildings on Knocknashee in Co. Sligo have been dated to around 1,000 BC.
An archaeological excavation is taking place on the late Bronze Age structures that were initially believed to be from the Stone Age.
A group of researchers and students from Queen's University, Belfast have been exploring the cairn's and an old rampart that are located there.
The aim of this dig was to date the buildings and there are hopes they can get funding for further excavations next year.
