It’s emerged that Leitrim recorded one of the of lowest number of vacant council properties nationally.
Figures received through a Freedom of Information request submitted by Aontú leader, Peadar Tóibín show that there are 20 in Leitrim with only Carlow (13) recording a lower figure.
The Government have previously been lambasted for struggling to meet its housing targets with 3,971 local authority homes left empty last year.
Dublin City Council (699) had the highest number of empty homes last year, followed by Cork County Council (452), Cork City Council (360), Limerick city and county councils (293).
