The chief executive of Leitrim County Council is believed to be leaving his position to take up a new job in Wicklow.

Waterford-native Frank Curran took over as council chief executive in Leitrim in February 2014.

He succeeded Martin Dolan, who had been acting county manger following the departure of Jackie Maguire for Meath County Council.

Mr Curran had been director of services with Waterford County Council before coming to Leitrim.

Previously, he had been senior executive officer for housing and senior executive engineer.

Mr Curran himself is on leave at present but a number of Leitrim councillors told Ocean FM News that he is moving to Wicklow.
