Leitrim Councillor calls for debate on the contribution of young people to their Communities and Country

A Leitrim Councillor is calling for a debate around young people's contributions to their community and the State through civic engagement and national service.

Manorhamilton Municipal District Councillor Justin Warnock says while he is not talking about conscription he feels that younger people should be asked to give more back to their communities.

Cllr Warnock says the debate should be around a wide range of activities for young adults, including community service, environmental service, and training programmes, in the Civil Defence and in the Reserve Defence Forces.
