Minister Simon Coveney is expected to reveal his plans to tackle the current impasse in relation to bin charges later today.
New pay by weight charges will come into effect on July 1st and a number of companies have said they have been forced to increase prices significantly as a result.
The National Standard's Authority of Ireland will be responsible for the bin weighing mechanism.
The charges have been trialled in Leitrim over the past 18 months and Sinn Fein councillor Padraig Fallon believes they have been a success, aside from the standing charge.
