Leitrim councillor receives assurances in relation to Manorhamilton Garda Station

Reassurances have been given that there are enough Gardai in North Leitrim.

Concern has been expressed once again that following the closure of four Garda stations in recent years, that there may not be enough to police the vast border area.

Local Cllr Sean McDermott says he has sought clarity around the issue and asked if in particular, the Garda station in Manorhamilton was adequately resourced.

Cllr McDermott says that following a discussion with local Gardai, he's confident that both staffing and vehicles are up to scratch:
