Leitrim Councillor says it's time electronic tagging was introduced for repeat offenders

A Leitrim councillor is calling for electronic tagging to be introduced as a compulsory measure for criminals that continue to reoffend.

Manor MD Councillor Sean mc Dermott says there have been too many examples of murder, rape and other sexual offences committed by criminals that are out on bail or early release from prison.

The Fine Gael Councillor is expected to raise the issue at next week’s meeting of the Leitrim JPC.

Speaking to Ocean FM news the Fine Gael councillor says the level of crimes being committed by reoffenders is concerning.
