Leitrim councillor seeks grant scheme for renovation of old, derelict houses

A Leitrim councillor is calling on the local authority to write to the government to provide a .grant scheme for the renovation or reconstruction of old and derelict houses in rural areas and towns

Fianna Fail's Mary Bohan has submitted a motion to the council call on the matter, believing it to be a 'common sense' approach.

She says it's not the first time she has suggested such a scheme and 'cannot understand' why something like this has not already been introduced.

Councillor Bohan says a Reconstruction Grant in the past was beneficial and something similar would help people  who are now looking for a home.
