Leitrim forestry protest group heading to Claremorris this afternoon

Leitrim forestry protest group heading to Claremorris this afternoon

A new group has been established in Leitrim to further highlight the effects of forestry in the county.

The Save Leitrim Community Activist Group is made up of a broad range of people living throughout Leitrim.

This Wednesday, it is holding a protest in Claremorris during a meeting on the Common Agricultural Policy that Forestry Minister Andrew Doyle will be attending.

A 50-seater bus is travelling to the protest from Leitrim, leaving Manorhamilton at 3:30 and travelling onto Drumnkeeran, Drumshanbo, Mohill and Carrick on Shannon.

One of those involved in the group is the champion sean nos dancer and teacher, Edwina Guckian.
