Leitrim Gardai stop learner driver '14 times over legal alcohol limit'

Gardai have arrested a learner driver in County Leitrim who 14 times over the legal alcohol limit.

While on mobile patrol this week, Gardai from Carrick observed a vehicle driving erratically.

Gardai subsequently stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver.

He was a learner driver, driving unaccompanied and had no insurance.

He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and taken to Carrick on Shannon Garda Station.

Following a breath test at the Garda station he was found to be 14 times over the limit.

He was charged and will appear at a sitting of Carrick on Shannon District Court in the coming weeks.
