The county of Leitrim has recorded the largest percentage increase in the country when it comes to
the number of adults in emergency accommodation.
A new performance report of the 31 local authorities shows the average wait time to rehouse a tenant in social housing is 33 weeks, up from 28 in 2019.
It highlights that 141,000 homes are under local government ownership, with an average vacancy rate of 3 per cent.
Limerick recorded the greatest proportional decrease.
Meanwhile, there were almost 85,000 pollution complaints made to councils last year - an increase of almost 6,000 in 2019.
