Leitrim is one of only two counties who had a decrease in registration of new electric vehicles so far in 2025, when compared to the same period of last year.
According to the latest figures of the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, there have only been 16 new EVs registered in Leitrim across January and February, which is the lowest in Ireland.

Elsewhere in the North West, Sligo has registered 65 EVs so far this year, while in Donegal the number stands at 114.
Meanwhile, for all new car registrations in 2025, there were 1,142 in Donegal, 460 in Sligo, and 214 in Leitrim.
