Leitrim saw the biggest increase nationwide in money spent in pubs across the month of May.
According to latest statistics from AIB, Leitrim saw a 20% increase, which was the biggest across the country. That was followed by Westmeath on 18%, and Kilkenny on 16%.
Other trends across the hospitality sector saw spending in restaurants increase the most in Kilkenny by 9%, followed by Mayo and Waterford on 8%.
Sligo had the smallest increase nationwide when it came to average daily spending, with just 2%. Westmeath had the highest increase on 5%. Overall, average daily spending increased by 4% in total.
Sligo saw some other individual increases, with spending in pubs up 8%, restaurants up 5%, hotels rising by 9%, spending on groceries increasing by 6%,and clothing up 8%.
Other notable statistics included spending on groceries, health and beauty and hardware increasing by 5%, and spending on homewares rising by 4%.
Electric vehicle costs saw the highest increase, going up by 107% when compared with May 2023.
