It's been revealed that Leitrim once again has the lowest amount of housing commencements in the country.
Figures as far as September 2024 have been released by the Department of Housing today.
According to the statistics, work started on 27 homes in Leitrim in September, which is a significant increase on just 2 the previous month.
However, Leitrim still has the lowest amount of commencements in the country, with construction starting on 79 homes in the county this year.
Leitrim is the only county in Ireland under 100, with 187 in Longford and 191 in Carlow the next lowest.
It does, however, mean that construction has started on the exact same amount of homes in Leitrim compared to the same point in 2023.
In Sligo, work has started on 359 homes since the beginning of the year, with 10 more starting throughout September 2024.
And in Donegal, there has been a total of 845 commencements, with 83 of those beginning in September this year.
