Leitrim TUI branch motion on cervical cancer vaccine is passed at congress

Delegates at the Teachers Union of Ireland congress in Cork have passed a motion from the Leitrim branch of the union calling for the arrangements for providing the HPV cervical anti-cancer vaccine in second-level schools to be looked into.

Sean Wynne, a teacher in Drumshanbo Vocational School whose daughter suffered ill-effects after getting the vaccine, says schools are not the proper setting for such medicine to be given out.

He says health centres or clinics are a more appropriate place for this medical vaccination to be administered.
