Letters by a teenage Yeats go under the hammer

Seven unpublished letters written by a teenage William B. Yeats will go on sale at Sotheby's in London tomorrow.

The guiding price for the letters is between €13,000 to €20,000.

The letters were written between 1883 and 1886.

One of the letters has echoes of one of Yeats's most famous poems The Lake Isle of Innisfree, when he writes about 'an acre of green and wood filled with the hum of insects.'

Six of the letters were to Ethel Veasey and the other to his brother Cyril. Ethel was the elder sister of Cyril who had been a close friend of Yeats at Godolphin School in London, whilst Ethel had befriended Lolly Yeats, a sister of W. B.
