County councils in Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and Roscommon are being asked for an outline of their plans for the installation of vehicle-charging points.
Sligo/Leitrim Sinn Fein TD Martin Kenny, who is seeking the information, says there are very few 'fast-charge' points available in the north west.
He added that according to an ESB map, there are fewer than 25 fast-charging points in the area he represents while the figure nationally is 1,385.
He also says that although €2m has been made available to local authorities for the installation of charging points at specific tourist’s spots across the country, there was no breakdown county-by-county for this funding.
