Local councillor calls for signs banning swimming at Cliffoney beach

Sligo County Council is being urged to erect signage to ban swimming at Cliffoney beach.

The appeal is being made by local independent councillor Marie Casserly.

The beach at Cliffoney has proved very popular with visiting holidaymakers in recent weeks.

But while the beach has outstanding beauty and looks safe, there are no lifeguards on duty - and Councillor Casserly says the water there is deceptively dangerous.
