A Sligo Leitrim TD believes local nursing homes are vital to the overall running of Sligo University Hospital and other facilities.
It comes as nursing home owners have written an open letter to the Taoiseach, warning him closures are inevitable if the Government doesn't step in.

They're hitting out at the discrimination against private nursing homes residents under Fair Deal.
