Local TD calls for Sligo Garda Station to be North West Divisional Headquarters

There are fresh calls to establish Sligo Garda station as a divisional headquarters for An Garda Síochána.

Currently the headquarters is based in Letterkenny however it's thought Sligo would be a more suitable location.

It's also thought that the Armed Response Unit HQ should be based in County Sligo.

Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan says the decision to upgrade the existing Garda station in the town was met with some criticism at the time now that it’s done, it’s time for the Commissioner to make the right call:
