A Sligo Leitrim TD has called into the question the amount of money the Gardai paid to the operators of speed cameras over the past three years.
The concerns have been raised by the Sinn Fein spokesperson Martin Kenny.
The Sligo Leitrim TD raised the concerns after it emerged that the Gardai paid the operator in question 26 million euro more than it got through its fines in the space of three years.
Between 2017 and 2019, the Gardai paid GoSafe 44 million euro.
The revenue generated in fines from drivers it clocked speeding was 18.1 million euro.
The Gardai says the main purpose of these speed checks is to save lives - not generate money.
