A Sligo Leitrim TD has raised in the Dáil, how the continued loss of communications infrastructure following storm Eowyn is impacting parts of the North West.
Fine Gael Deputy Frank Feighan told the Taoiseach that many people still have no phone, mobile phone coverage or broadband.
The Sligo based Deputy requested that Eir speed up their repairs, and bring in additional support if necessary.
Deputy Feighan added that government pressure needs to be applied to the communication service providers to speed up their reconnections to the homes and businesses currently affected.
In response the Taoiseach outlined how every effort is being made by state agencies to make sure those without such services are restored as soon as possible.
Michael Martin says investment in infrastructure is needed.
